Cootehill Active Travel Project promoted by Cootehill Area Development Ltd

To complement Stage One of our Dromore Greenway, Cootehill Area Development Ltd and Cootehill SEC (Sustainable Energy Communities) subcommittee are working with The Roads Section of Cavan County Council to progress this Cootehill Active Travel Project for Cootehill Town as shown on attached Map over time.

We hope that all Schools in the area will also benefit from the recently launched “Safer Route To Schools Funding Initiative” to support Schools linking with these Greenways and Active Travel initiatives which we circulated to all Schools last week.
We have actively engaged with Senior Co. Council Engineers since January to put this Active travel proposal together with the help of our Architecture design team Michael Fitzpatrick and Malcolm Magee and Cavan County Council’s Road Design Section.
We are pleased that our application has been successful and that we have received this additional funding for the Cootehill Active Travel Project 2021 to complement our Dromore Greenway project through Cavan County Council.
As well as the €100,000 funding received for our Walking and Cycling Strategy we have also received approval for funding for light segregation, footpaths and low cost Junction tightening for the overall project which we welcome.

Over time, Schools on the route will benefit as well as private homes, premises from our industrial parks together with recreational /sporting facilities within the catchment area.
