Cootehill Area Development

About Us

Founded in 1994 as a Community Development Company, Cootehill Area Development’s mission is to improve the economic, environmental, social and cultural development of Cootehill Town and it’s surrounding hinterland for all its inhabitants, young and old.

Projects to date:
Its first project was to purchase and completely refurbish the White Star Complex at the centre of Market Street for community use. The policy of the Company has always been to reinvest all profits made by the Company back into our Community.

We have invested in supporting the development of two very successful Enterprises Centres one at Drumman, Cavan Road, Cootehill and the second Technology Enterprise Centre on Station road in partnership with Cavan County Enterprise Fund and the Local Enterprise Office. A contract of work is soon to commence at the Technology Enterprise Centre to totally Kit out all of the ground floor of this building to a very high specification.

The next major project we undertook was a social project to purchase 10 acres of Mature Woodland Forest at Halton’s/ Dartrey Cootehill from Coillte in 2012. This was a very big investment for the Community Company who also transformed the facility to make it a more accessible community facility with the help of different grant funding schemes. Halton’s amenity park is very popular in the region and caters for the Cootehill branch of the International Parkrun initiative and many different activities such as walking, cycling, boating, fishing, swimming, running and outdoor education workshops that are facilitated here every year with no charge.

Plans are now in place to deliver a new Dromore Greenway facility running through green countryside with a link connection to Halton’s amenity park and The Errigal Hotel. This will help locals and visitors to further embrace the great outdoors in the wonderful Cootehill area.
