This beautiful forest and river park is located right on the border between Cavan and Monaghan, separated by an old stone bridge spanning over the meandering Dromore River. Halton’s Park offers walking trails, made of tarmac, dirt, gravel paths (some of them lighted) along the river and into the adjacent Dartrey forest.
The park hosts the magical Erica’s Fairy Forest and the popular Walkabout Coffee and Lunch kiosk. Furthermore, the park has an outdoor gym, changing facilities, a band stand, benches and picnic tables, jetties and two boat launching areas.
A great stop-off, it also includes two car parks, 2 Aires De Service (motorhome service units) and 2 outdoor natural gas barbecue units. The park is home to many initiatives, including the Cootehill Parkrun, angling, swimming, mountain biking, summer camps, various types of boating, running and walking.
