FLOAT / PARADE INFORMATION

Dear All
Floats, fairies, farmers, best dressed dogs and vintage cars!

We can’t wait to share an amazing community day of festivities and fun with you!

Please see below a few important details about the day:

  • All floats assemble in the spacious St Michael’s Church car park and proceed from there (address below)
  • Registration for floats between 2pm and 2.30pm at the St Michael’s church car park.
  • There will be traffic restrictions in place from 2.30pm – 4.30pm with no access through the town, so it’s important all floats arrive BEFORE 2.30pm.
  • The parade will start at 3pm sharp
  • FLOATS: KEEP YOUR SPEED DOWN to about 5km per hour. Stay Back by 4 car lengths from the entry in front of you. A parade moving at walking speed, with some nice separation between entries is more enjoyable for the spectators. They get to admire your entry, talk to your folks on the ground, catch some candy, and overall it doesn’t feel rushed. Maintain your speed. If you have maintained your speed, and a gap gets created in front of you DO NOT SPEED UP TO CATCH UP. Just maintain your speed, you’re right and the guy in front of you is wrong. If a gap is created behind you, SLOW DOWN. You have probably been going to fast. If the parade stops. When it restarts, WAIT UNTIL THE ENTRY IN FRONT OF YOU IS 4 CAR LENGTHS AWAY BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO MOVE.

  • The fairies and farmers walk first (as the only ones – with their little legs – start from the Church of Ireland at the bottom of the town) and the floats proceed thereafter.
  • You’re welcome to gently pass down soft sweets from your float to the parade visitors.
  • Very Important: Dog paraders please bring doggie bags and pick up if your dog litters on the street – if you forget bags on the day, you can get them across the road from St Michael’s Church.

There will be marshalling on the day to make sure everyone queues up and proceeds in an orderly way.

Please keep your eyes on the road and mind anyone in front or around you on the road.
